Horsehead (IC434) and Flame (NGC2024) Nebulae

from $4.00

Professor Edward Charles Pickering, whom ran the Harvard College Observatory, frustrated with his male assistants, proclaimed his maid could do a better job, and in 1879 hired Williamina Fleming to join the observatory. Fleming went on to create new star cataloging methods, became proficient in processing photographic plates, and in 1888 discovered a region of Hydrogen-rich gas, aptly named the Horsehead Nebula. This dark, dusty cloud forms a familiar silhouette against the glowing, gaseous emission nebula. Just next door, the Flame Nebula adds dramatic movement to the scene. Presented in dual narrowband (HOO).

Matted, ready to frame.
